. Origin and history .

It is said that the origins of this breed is in Molossus, in the dog of an old
Greek tribe in Athenas, the Molossi. But it is the Mastin the one which
reminds much more the english bulldog. It seems to be that the Mastin, the Bulldog
and the Boxer have one same ancestor. All of them were fight dogs; Mastin fighted
againt gladiators and wild animals in the Roman Coliseo, and the Boxer was
known in Germany as the "Bullenbeisser" or bull fighter.

Unfortunately the Bulldog is associated with the horrible ''sport''
of fightings between dog and bull. It consists of catching the bull by his
nose and not loose it until the bull falls colapsed.
It was Count Warren of Stanford who promoted this ''sport''
after having seen in 1209 a figth of two dogs with two bulls.
In 1838 the Bulldog was almost extint because of the
prohibition of that macabre ''sport'', but Bill George continued breeding
Bulldogs fortunately for good proposes.

. General Appearance .

In spite of its ferocious aspect, it is an animal of docile
temperament which love kids. It learns quickly
and it likes to participate in games. Its constitution excludes
fast races since its nose does not allow him to breath quickly.
It does not have to be left locked because it needs abundant fresh air.

Males weight 25 Kgs.; females 22 Kgs.

. Cares .

In order to maintain this dog in very good conditions we should
brush it daily with a hard brush.
For its annual bath, please choose a warm day.

. Exercise .

It is a good idea to take it for a walk everyday.
If it lives in countrysides the dog will be very thankful if you left it free.
Don't let it get very excited when it is a puppy neither an adult.
It is an ideal breed for long walks.
